Georgetown- Habitat for Humanity

Greetings from Georgetown, South Carolina! After 15 bumpin' hours in the car with the MAB fam through cotton fields and sulfur filled air we arrived to our cozy host home. Upon arrival we ventured to Wally World to get some eats for the week. After breaking into cooking teams we planned meals for the upcoming week. To start out the week, stir fry was made by the lovely cooking team of Randi, Arianna, Ashley, and Zach. With many selfies and inside jokes we hit the hay after two long days in the car.

To start out the next day we woke early and scrambled to get 12 people in and out of the two bathrooms to get ready to depart for the historic Charleston, SC. After a little over an hour car ride we arrived on the beautiful shoreline on Folly Beach. After a stroll on the beach and many of insta worthy pics we headed for the heart of Charleston. By the way, sea-foam is definitely not an awesome shade of blue-green but rather a bubbly white. Anyway, back to the day's festivities. We walked down the brick laden King Street to the surprise of it being blocked off for a cute little market. Moseying our way down the street we saw so many wittle puppies, awesome street performers, and lots of fun shops. After we all became addicted to the quaint town of Charleston, we were en route back to our host home for a meeting with Habitat for Humanity representative, Annette. Annette shared all the information we could possibly know about the Georgetown area and the local Habitat for Humanity affiliate. Also to sweeten the pot, a team of 8 volunteers arrived to stay at the our host home with us from the University of Maryland and we have bonded with them ever since, especially our friend Chris.

For the second night, the same fabulous cooking team chef'd some gourmet grilled cheese and tomato soup. Also, apparently it is difficult to open cans of soup without a can opener :) Even though we had a long day and were all exhausted we couldn't seem to fall asleep as we giggled until our bellies hurt.

We awoke this morning excited to finally get to get our clothes dirty and serve the people of Habitat. After a short orientation with our friend, Ron, at the Habitat affiliate, we started for our work site. The task for the day was to prime the house, after a day's hard work the house was primed. Covered head to toe in primer we retreated back to the affiliate to end our service filled day. For the third day the cooking team of Jessica, Lena, Meghan, and Taylor prepared a TBT meal of kindergarten food consisted of pizza rolls, chicken nuggets, and TOTS. For a little dessert we ventured out to find out ice cream is not available in all of Georgetown county after 9 o'clock. To make up for this we pulled in to the Food Lion to purchase some delicious creamery. And thats where the story ends for the time being.

After watching numerous vines and many inside jokes we are bonded closer than we ever could have thought. As the week boils on we will try our best to not "get lost in the sauce" #GucciMane (;

Love,

Your Favorite MAB Fam!
