Twin Cities (Minneapolis) - Women's Advocacy (6)

Day 5

Today we went to the Minnesota Indian Women's Resource Center to continue our paint job. We finished painting the fourth floor, which was really satisfying. We all were absolutely covered in paint – some of us looked more fashionable in our paint than other (Queen Deja, looking at you).

We then decided to head to the Minnesota Sculpture Garden to take some photos, covered in paint, tired, and hungry. MABabes loved twerking it and working it in front of the large cherry in a spoon statue. Then we rushed to the car to get back and eat before our next service site. (Editor's note: We didn't want this photo to be a "competition" with MAB Anthony. It was more to be a funny replication of their dramatic photo shoot).

Next we went to Cooper High School to talk to the African Girls Club through MAWA. We were able to sit in a circle and face the girls, which made the conversation a lot more personal and informal. Our conversation was focused this time more on majors and how we all felt about leaving home for the first time. It was very fascinating to see how many of them felt pressures to do certain careers.

Once we got home and made our last family meal together, we had a super powerful reflection were lots of hugs and cuddled ensued. We are definitely some amazing, compassionate, passionate power woms.
