New Orleans 3 - Disaster Relief (3)

The third blog.
Today’s blog may be a bit shorter, simply because the only thing standing between me and the French quarter souvenir shopping is writing this down!
Last night we had a stay in, self care night. We had 3 people doing yoga, 3 went on a run, 2 worked out, 2 did homework, and 1 took a nap. Marie and Gabriel did 1-on-1’s with all of the participants to check in and see how everyone is doing and it was great.
All in all, today was another amazing day.  We went to a man named Carl’s house to help him get his house ready for siding repair and painting. The home is the one he currently lives in and is also the house he grew up in. Katrina did damage; It flooded 8 feet up in his house. While that was happening, Carl was having an allergic reaction to medication that was causing his kidneys to shut down. He survived, but it left him disabled and unable to work. So to help him today, we scraped paint, sanded, and then power washed his house to prepare for a new paint job. We’ll return tomorrow to get started and were more than excited because Carl said he’d be making us bbq!
Let a participant know if you want a French quarter souvenir!!!
