After spending our free day yesterday in the breathtaking Yellowstone National Park, we spent our first day of service at The Hub, an adult mental health facility, and then serving dinner at Ronald McDonald House. The first part of the day was spent sorting jackets and bras. The boys became more educated on bra sizes and even got to figure out their own size.
Some of us went into the day worried about what was to come. Being on a children's trip, spending a day working at an adult homeless shelter gave us a situation far different than many participants were prepared for. Nevertheless, it was an experience we ended up really enjoying and getting a lot out of. We realized that though we are in many different stages in our lives, we all are so similar, and the people who are homeless "were somebody before they were nobody in somebody's eyes." No matter where people are in life, there is always hope. We have had a blast in Billings so far, and can't wait to see what the rest of the week has in store for us.
