Atlanta 3 - Intersectionality (2)

Greetings fellow breakers!

It was a gloomy Monday morning in Atlanta, but throughout the day the sun peaked from behind the clouds to create what turned into a pretty awesome day!

Today at Lost-n-Found was all about teamwork. Today's task primarily included pulling all of the women's items with blue tags. The items marked with blue tags are the ones that will be shipped off to third world countries. It's humbling to internalize the fact that even this non-profit organization is finding a way to turn right around and give back to others, even more deserving than themselves. Wow!

For the latter portion of our service today, we went to go check out the site of the next house that will be renovated to situate homeless LGTBQ youth. The house will be able to hold three times as many youth as the current location. It was really interesting to be able to walk around the site under construction and be able to envision all of the plans in place. There was endless potential! The organization has promised to keep MAB updated when the project is complete! We can't wait to see it all come together, because we know that represents a countless number of youth that will be saved from some of the roughest streets in Atlanta.

It was such a beautiful day out today that we decided to extend our bonding by taking a little walk in the park! After a couple laps, slides, swings and failed gymnastics techniques, we settled for a couple of selfies and eventually decided that an ice cream stop was in order. We ended up at Sprinkles cupcake/ice cream shop, which just so happened to be attached to Lenox mall. Naturally, that led to an entirely new excursion!

Tomorrow will be bittersweet being our last day at Lost-n-Found Youth Center. We hope to leave at least half of the impact on all of them as they have left on us. Atlanta has yet to disappoint!
