New Orleans 2 - Homelessness and Poverty 1/13/15

Tuesday, 1/13/15
Today was our second day serving at Love In Action Outreach. We have gotten the chance to talk to the individuals who have made such an amazing place possible, and we are so grateful to work alongside them!

We were on the road bright and early (to avoid the traffic!). Immediately we began setting up the pantry and preparing to serve. Love In Action is a unique and wonderful place. Clients are able to come in and make selections of the food that was donated to Love In Action. Their food is then placed in bags or boxes and they are helped out to their cars. While they are waiting to be served, they can browse the clothing and other items in Love In Action's thrift store area.

As volunteers, we are able to interact directly with the clients by helping them through the aisles and strive to bring smiles to their faces. We have also gotten to talk to the Love In Action staff throughout the day - they are truly amazing!

After serving, we ventured to the City Park, which was an interesting place filled with sculptures and sights to explore. We continue to look forward to the rest of the week and serving!
