New Orleans 2 - Homelessness and Poverty
MAB New Orleans experienced a late start today, with traffic that lasted nearly an hour. Not to worry, as we were greeted with understanding smiles at Love In Action Outreach, our service site. While at the warehouse and pantry, we served many individuals alongside other volunteers. Love In Action is not just a food pantry, but also has clothing options. Several of us took time to organize this part of the warehouse. New relationships with Love In Action founders were formed, which we hope will only continue to grow during the week. After our service, we marveled at the wondrous site of the Garden District in downtown New Orleans. At dusk, we experienced a spooky atmosphere while walking around a historic cemetery. Next up was the Tulane campus. One van prevailed, while the other was too lost to bother. Everything was well, because tacos were for dinner! Day one was great and we cannot wait for the rest of the week.
