All in all, we had a smooth and pleasant drive up to Hermosa, SD, today. We ran into a few icy patches (literally) and got lost a couple times, but at the end of the day, we made it to our cabins unscathed! Tomorrow will consist of hiking and sight seeing. Then Monday we will get right to work for the Dacotah Tipis Habitat for Humanity chapter. For now, we are all very tired after a full day on the road, so it's time to get some shut-eye. Check below for a quick summary of our day!
Things we learned today:
-Always close the back hatch before you drive away.

-Watch out for attacks from self-inflating air mattresses.
-Mr. Goodsense in Nebraska does NOT honor its $1 off toasted subs on Saturdays deal.
-MU has many extensions.
-South Dakota has the most beautiful sunsets. They stretch across the whole sky.
-South Dakota also has a barn store. (Samples are on display.)
-Wall Drug Store is a national treasure.
-"Wall Drug or bust."
-"YOLO: Wall Drug."
-You just can't escape billboards for Wall Drug.
-The Black Hills are in South Dakota. They are not "mountains" or "mounds."
-Bear Country, USA, is, regrettably, closed during the winter.
-Night is when it's dark outside.
-Windmills are big and beautiful.
-So are birds migrating by the thousand.
-Casino/Laundromat/gas station/arcades have the friendliest workers who give the best directions and take great pictures for you.
(Doin' what the sign says!)
-Every GPS is unique. No two give the same directions.
-There is such a thing as "West Mex."
-Tiny log cabins are bigger on the inside.
-"Be Gumby" applies to everything.
-We are all REALLY excited to get to Fort Thompson tomorrow!
