Indianapolis, IN
Day 1- we managed to turn a four-hour drive into a seven and a half-hour voyage to Indianapolis.
To begin our Spring Break escapade, we (Allie) lost the tiger tail and Truman for the scavenger hunt all before we left Columbia. Tailless and Truman-less, we took off in our white van and black Yukon XL around 9:30 a.m. After driving for about two hours, we reached Chesterfield, Mo. and stopped for lunch.

Here's a question for you all: Bread Co. or Panera? Our group can't seem to decided what its "real" name is. I have a feeling we may never reach an agreement. Anyway, we received our giant order and enjoyed our respective soup, salads and sandwiches.
Kim caught sight of a giant jar of pickles and decided she HAD to have one. So she asked a Bread Co. associate if he could kindly get her a pickle and he agreed. A few minutes later, the associate shows up at our table holding two pickles in his bare hand. After some hesitation and an awkward exchange of words, Kim reluctantly took the pickles.
Once on the road again, it only took about ten minutes for us to get separated. Mom (Allie) decided to take the van off on a completely different route. The navigators furiously searched for a way to meet up again but struggled to figure something out. So we continued on our own separate routes. Eventually Mom figured out that she needs to gas up again, but Dad (Cody) had his wallet with him in the other car. So Dad and his passengers pulled off the highway to wait for Mom and the others.
The meet up location was in a town called Marshall, Il. – Home of the gazebos and number circles, population: zero. Forty minutes later, Mom arrived and we were able to hit the road again. Luckily we were able to stay together on the road for remaining hour and a half.

We arrived at St. Benedicts Inn in Indianapolis, In. at 6:30 p.m. Eastern time. Our host, Sister Sheila, was there to greet us with warm and welcoming arms. She showed us to our individual rooms and gave us a brief tour of the inn. Most of us agree this place is a little eerie, but we're excited and grateful to have a home for the week.
Afterwards, we went to a Mexican Restaurant called El Puerto to enjoy bottomless chips and salsa and great Mexican cuisine.
Honestly to sum up the day, all we have done is sit and eat. We actually just got Dairy Queen…
