Charleston 1--Homelessness and Poverty

We started our journey to Charleston on Friday.  We left Columbia around 4 p.m. and stopped in St. Louis to have a trip dinner at the Mullineaux house.  We then traveled on to Nashville and stayed at the Tossing home with a few other ASB trips.  On Saturday morning, we continued our journey onto Charleston.  We stopped in Pigeon Forge and got to see the Smokey Mountains and eat at a cute little cheesecake restaurant.  We got into Charleston later on Saturday evening and love our church!  We are staying at Bethel United Methodist and have the second floor of their youth center.  Of course, our first stop in Charleston was a Chick-Fil-A, much to Charles' happiness.

Today was our first full day to explore Charleston.  It started with a thunderstorm, but we were still able to make a Wal-Mart run.  After that, we made lunch at the church and walked to the Waterfront park.  Having a picnic with our group was incredible bonding and really fun!  We then drove to Folly Beach.  Minus the wind, we had a great time!  We also exceeded 100 tweets today and are proud of our hashtagging skills.  Our current challenge is to spell all of our names with emojis, so be on the lookout for those tweets.

Here's a picture to sum up the day! Thanks for reading!  This trip is going to be great!

Love,
ASB Charleston 1
