Little Rock - Health

As I sit here, reflecting upon the first 48 hours of events, it’s hard to believe we were mere strangers only a few weeks ago.

We arrived at Chris’s house on Friday night, ready to embark on our most excellent adventure to Little Rock, Arkansas! Between our very first Walmart run #Arkansas and playing Cards Against Humanity (not recommended for children under 18), we quickly became even more acquainted with one another. We woke up, made a breakfast of champions- cinnamon rolls, black coffee, and eggs- and packed up. Introduce to the stage Destiny’s Child (the blue minivan) and THE Yukon #theyukon (self-explanatory). We arrived in Yellville, AR to our beautiful cabin nestled between two mountains with a spring-fed waterfall on site. After unpacking, we got to work making tacos and guacamole. We found the missing cantaloupe. Yes, we lost a cantaloupe. In order for Eric Hucker to make his peach and white cake dump cake, Alissa, Jessica, Chris, Liz, and Eric made a trip to Flippin, AR (that is the name of the town, not an adjective) to purchase a few essentials. After dinner and dessert, we settled down to watch Seven Psychopaths and retire for the evening.

Rise and shine, Tigers! Today is the day. We’re off to Little Rock, Arkansas. First action item of the day: purchase a can of fish assholes (google it, if you dare). During breakfast, we had a few Cuties newbies (the little Clementines) and the general consensus was approval. During the drive from Yellville to Little Rock, we stumbled upon a 20-foot waterfall and nature area. #thenaturalstate Pictures included here:

Finally, we arrive in Little Rock. After a quick trip to Walmart #Arkansas for dinner ingredients, we arrive at the First United Methodist Church. There are two in Little Rock. Hehe. Ironic. This place is stunning and larger than anything we could have expected. Sending a wicked thank you to the staff and pastor for letting us stay in this wonderful space . We got a tour from Deon (security and maintenance) and Austin (the youth coordinator), dropped our bags in the conference rooms, and headed to the gym for basketball and dodge ball. Chris, Carl, and Liz allowed (teehee) Alissa, Lindsey, and Brian to enjoy a win during three-on-three basketball. After an excellent dinner (shout out to Dani’s fruit-astic salad), we showered and headed to the ground level to assist Austin with some youth group activities. We participated in a walk through Peter/Simon’s shoes, then reflected as a group once the youth had left. Finally, we ended the night with great games of Settlers of Catan and Cranium!

We’re so excited for orientation at the Arkansas Children’s Hospital and middle school tomorrow!
