Yo homes, to Louisville!!
Our day started out at the crack of dawn (well, not really, but it sure felt like it). All 12 of us boarded our BRAND NEW dodge caravans and rolled out of Columbia at 9:00 am. The first part of the drive was easy and familiar to most of us, eastbound I-70 towards St. Louis. We drove through STL without any problems, passed the awesome St. Louis Cardinals stadium, and through East St. Louis (definitely no stopping there). Our first stop came around 12:00 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to stretch our legs and grab lunch. We ate at Fazoli's which was the shiz, obvs. We hopped back in the car around 12:30 and hit the road again. We all nodded off and rested our eyes this afternoon for a while, and when I woke up, I could have sworn I was still dreaming. Everywhere we looked, there were snowmen, reindeer, and GIANT Santa Claus's. We took a pit stop in this quant little town called (I kid you not) Santa Claus, Indiana. We took a look around in the gift shop and got back on the road again. We weren't anywhere near the North Pole, but the freezing rain combined with all the Christmas decorations in this town, I could have sworn we were.
A few hours later, and voala! We arrived in Louisville, Kentucky! We pulled into our humble hotel, appropriately called Hotel Louisville. We got settled into our rooms, watched the end of the basketball game (Whatup Butler Final 4!?!), and headed out to dinner. We walked just a few short blocks until we arrived at this cool area called 4th Street Live. It's bright lights and street lined bars resemble the Power and Light district in Kansas City. Really neat! We grabbed a bite at a local Cajun restaurant, and then walked back to our hotel. The walk back was more like a power walk/slow jog as the sleet and drizzle began to pick up a little bit L. We debriefed the day in Madison and Evan's room, showered and snuggled into our cozy twin beds. Can't wait to sleep in and snuggle with my roomie tonight!!
