Dallas-poverty

Cloudy, cold, but leaving the snow of Columbia behind for the warmth of Texas, seven students, mostly freshmen Schurz residents, left for Dallas. Despite the hope for warmer weather, we didn't encounter any stops that weren't windy and cold, but we continued to look forward to the sunny days ahead.

The eleven hours in our van passed with music constantly floating through the speakers, laughter from the ladies in the back, and a lot of concentration making bracelets from multicolored string. Many conversations, potty breaks and one Taco Cabana stop later, we made it to Dallas.

Stepping into the apartment Christ Episcopal Church freely and generously gave our group keys to, we were pleasantly surprised to find a full kitchen, two bathrooms and spacious rooms to accommodate us. Tired, but excited, we'll head to bed with the comfort of good hospitality and dreams of the adventures and community involvement we'll embark on in the morning.

We look forward to sharing our stories with you.

Do it for Carl,
Dallas ASB
