Fort Pierce- Animals

Today, following two wonderful days of travel (filled with cows, icy road conditions, and an eclectic assortment of music) we arrived at our final destination, the idyllic coastal town of Fort Pierce, Florida. Our two fearless leaders (Anna and Morgan) spent months arduously attempting to acquire us housing, despite all of that effort every place they called turned them down, finally at the final hour a call from the heavens appeared, Faith Farm Okeechobee was our savior. They welcomed us with open arms and graciously invited us to stay at one of their homes. We weren't much, most MAB trips are forced to pack into tightly crowded rooms and sleep on cold hard floors, not Fort Pierce 2017, no, when arrived at our house (the Ritz-Carlton of MAB accomadations) we were in awe of the luxurious accommodations that awaited us. Everyone has their own bed, multiple showers with great water pressure, a kitchen with all the amenities, a back patio perfect for entertaining suffice it to say, we were pleased. After a great nights rest we woke up on Sunday morning (our free day) and made the 2 hour drive south to sunny Miami. Coming from the cold harsh winters of central Missouri we were welcomed with sunny skies, 70 degree weather and a collective positive group attitude, a key component when one travels with 11 complete strangers. We parked at the metro (which was free!) and enjoyed a scenic trip around downtown Miami, we saw where the Miami Heat play and the massive cruise ships docked at the harbor. What a sight to behold. We decided to check out the hippy haven that is the Wynwood art district. It did not disappoint, filled with wild murals of fantastic beasts, eccentric icons and interesting smells. We dined on some fresh local grub at Coyo Taco, man let me tell you those things were good. Once our bellies were full we wandered around, patronizing vendors and soaking up the rich cultural history of Wynwood. You'd think that would be enough for one day right? But no we were not going to waste such a beautiful day, we hopped back on the Metro and traveled to the Beachfront park, where we stumbled upon a great live band, some good fried food and most importantly a large amount of incredibly cute dogs. What a rush. And you want to know the best part? It was all free, after that we relaxed on the edge of the cerulean waters of Biscayne Bay resting our weary feet before the drive home. If the rest of the trip turns out as good this day we are in for quite an adventure!
