San Antonio 2 - Children

Day 1 - We arrived at our housing in the beautiful city of San Antonio at about 4 PM to discover a toilet in the women's restroom overflowing out into the hallway.  But luckily, team work makes the dream work and we were able to stop the "flood" from overtaking the church.  We ended the night with some much needed Mexican food at the famous Riverwalk.

Day 2: Trip to the Zoo!! Our day was made after seeing 3 baby lion cubs, a baby monkey clinging on to it's mother, and taking selfies with the pot belly pigs at the petting zoo.  Afterwards we grabbed some delicious award-winning Barbecue from Augie's Barbed Wire and made a point to stop at the Japanese Tea Garden next door!

Day 3: 1st day of service! After a tour of the campus and a brief history of the shelter, we jumped right into organizing the christmas gifts that were donated by the community.  Each child received everything on their wish list so there were plenty of gifts left over for birthdays throughout the year and other programs that the shelter supports.  The teachers and staff was very appreciative of our hard work and eagerness to serve.  We are all excited to continue working with the amazing individuals at the San Antonio Children's Shelter throughout the week!
