New York 1 - Disaster Relief (7)

Day 6: 3/27/15

Today our group was split up once again. One of the groups had five people and they went back to a previous house that we were at to continue to chisel the walls of a basement. They made a lot of progress and although no one really liked to chisel, they volunteered to do so with no problem! The other 7 of our group went to a home right around the corner from the home we were staying in. Last night the house was primed by us and today we painted all of the walls and the ceilings with white paint. Everyone really enjoyed the painting and it was nice to get away from the mold remediation and the repetitive chiseling.

After service we came back and made sloppy joes for dinner and watched a little bit of Dirty Dancing. For desert we had chocolate cake and ice cream! After dinner we all sat down for our reflection. We all shared feelings about how we felt like we accomplished a lot this week, what motivated us all to do so, and how we were sad that the week was over and how fast it flew by. We are currently in the middle of cleaning the house and preparing to leave tomorrow morning after packing up the cars. It sure was a fun trip and we all enjoyed giving back!
