Asheville - Habitat for Humanity (5)

Days 5 & 6: A letter to future volunteers

Get ready for the best week of your life! The experiences we gained on this trip cannot be measured by any of the measuring tapes on the worksite. Here are 5 facts explaining what we have learned this trip:

1) Age is just a number, especially on the worksite.

2) The core volunteers will give you the clothes off their back – Joyce literally took her tank off to give us as a souvenir.
3) Men aren't a necessity on the worksite. Robin, in charge of the women's build, has been inspiring all us girls.
4) Although she has only spent a short two years with Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity, Stephanie has done incredible work coordinating volunteer groups throughout the year and has given us the most incredible experience.
5) Getting to know one of the partner families has given us a greater appreciation for the work we have accomplished this week. Gwen and her kids were so grateful and it really touched our hearts.
Working with Habitat was an eye-opening experience that we will remember for the rest of our lives and hopefully we will continue to serve through this organization. We have loved every minute in Asheville!

Have fun,
