I just wanted to tell you about the fun adventure so far on my Mizzou Alternative Break trip! On Friday night, we had a slumber party at my site leader Adam’s house. We watched a RomCom called “Just Like Heaven” and Kari cried. She wants to find her Mark Ruffalo. Emmett snored really loud, but I slept through it all. We woke up at 5, packed up the vans, and headed to St. Louis to pick up my friends Sianna, Joe, and Alex. Of course we had to go to a Starbucks before we could head out. When we got to St. Louis to meet up at Target, Sianna was late because she got stuck by a bike race that cut her off and made her late to meet us. But don’t worry, Adam led us in some MAB aerobics to stretch out or legs while we waited.
We finally made it to Rick and Tams’ house (that’s Evan’s parents) in Highland, IL, and they made us the most delicious breakfast EVER. Shout out to Tams!

We also played with Evan’s dog, Daphne, and Adam took a model picture with her because he loves model dogs. Joe threw a ball while Evan and Daphne raced to get it.
Our next stop was Nashville where Maiya took awesome pics with her fancy camera. Grahamcracker, I swear, you’d have loved it.

We ate at Rockbottom Brewery where they had employees in the bathrooms that put soap in your hands, gave you towels, and chatted with you (WHAT?). Finally, we left to head to our final destination, Hiawassee, GA.
On the way there, we sneezed on the beat and the beat got sicker.
We went on a wild goose-chase looking for our campsite, ended up in a really creepy double wide neighbor, but finally arrived at Riverbend Campground, tiger-tails and all. We set up our camp in a record-breaking 24.69 minutes, and built a fire in seconds.
We tried to fit 7 people into a 4-person tent, and it got super warm. Nicole opened up the tent in the morning, and steam erupted from it.
In the morning, we packed up and headed to Enota Mountain Retreat where we are spending the majority of our week. We met Dr. Suan, Bill, David, Tony, had orientation, and then they showed us to the cabin they are letting us stay in.
Dr. Suan is incredibly passionate and really got us excited about organics, sustainability, and being here to serve!
And then the fun began…
We spent the morning splitting wood, washing eggs, and de-rusting grills. In the afternoon, we started to work on the farm beds at the organic farm. We've done a lot and it's only the first day here!
After working, we went on a hike up the mountain to see a 200ft waterfall that Dr. Suan told us about.

It's beautiful here, Gramcracker, like you. We ate dinner, and we're currently sitting around in the reading room, chatting the night away and playing Cards Against Humanity. Can't wait what's in store for tomorrow! That's all for now.
Love you Gramcracker,
Rachel and MABuddies
