San Antonio, TX 1 - Habitat for Humanity (Post 1)
We started off our 1st day in San Antonio the best way possible-- with tacos for breakfast. Apparently breakfast tacos are a common occurrence in Texas, so we decided to do as the Texans do and eat Mexican cuisine for our first meal of the day and then head to downtown San Antonio to tour the Alamo. After the Alamo, we toured the rest of downtown and took a stroll along the Riverwalk (and of course stopped for ice cream followed by lunch at Raising Cane's…yes, we did have dessert first). We spent the rest of our day at the Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch, which is a drive-through Texas-style safari consisting of zebras, wildebeests, llamas, longhorns and more. The zebras even walked up to our car where we fed them food straight out of our hands, which of course called for a plethora of selfies with the animals. We finished the day like we started it--with Mexican food. This time, however, we met up with Kyle's cousin and her family who travelled from southern Texas for dinner at a restaurant on the Riverwalk. As you may understand from this trip's reoccurring food trend, the "MAB 23" is becoming the new "Mizzou 22". After a relaxing free-day, we are officially ready to head to our volunteer site tomorrow to start working on our house with Habitat for Humanity!
