San Antonio- Children
I really loved not only getting to work in the get weather- a cool 65 degrees- but also getting to talk with all of the staff as they walked by! It was wonderful to hear how much we were helping the Children's Shelter, even in such a short time! Below, you'll see our (almost) finished project! Sadly I don't have before pictures but I can promise you- MAJOR CHANGE! Tomorrow, we will get to plant flowers to really make the outdoor space as great as it can be!
Once we left our amazing site, we got to do some sightseeing! We saw the Alamo, which is pictured below! Spoiler Alert: maybe not as cool as we had built it up in our heads, the history was very much present! Cool stone though! Tip for y'all reading: skip the site seeing and read up on it! As a history major, I thought the story surpassed the site itself but I can guarantee, the Bros will not forget the Alamo!
After the site seeing, we hurried over to see the San Antonio Spurs beat the Denver Nuggets! While it was great to see the home team win, it was a bit disappointing for our Nuggets fan on the trip! The game was a blast, even with "our" team not winning!
The Bros are having a blast! We cannot wait to see what the rest of our service, activities after, and laughs will contain! Seriously though, I think we could all skip the ab workouts for a while after this wonderful trip!

Hi Y'All!
Greetings from the Lone Star State! The San AntoniBros have been quite busy the past twenty-four hours. Not only have we been having a blast at our site but also have gotten to see a little bit of San Antonio!
Today at The Children's Shelter, the group got to do three main things: organize a library, organize administrative files, and finally, three of us cleared out a pretty large section of land! So yeah, we have been staying busy! Here is a brief overview of all of the activities for today!
The folks over in the library worked to alphabetize and organize books for the quaint and cute space that the kids staying at the shelter use on a daily basis. It is great that they were able to organize the donations because not only do they stack up (huge community support) but also the kids can take the books that they get attached to with them when they leave the shelter! The Bros worked really hard to get all of the amazing books on the shelves so they can be read!
Two of our strapping young men volunteered to help out in the foster care offices today! The boys did do some heavy lifting! They also worked with about ten staff members organizing files going at least ten years back, which allows the shelter to check up on the kids once they leave and make sure they are doing well! By having a few extra hands, everyone involved was able to make the organizing go by just a little bit faster!
Finally, the last group, which was also my group, stayed busy too! Below is a picture of one of our gardening tools that we used when clearing out two large planting areas and part of a yard. I kept envisioning Snow White and the Seven Dwarves whenever I picked this bad boy up!
