NYC - Health

Dear Diary...

On Tuesday we got up at the crack of dawn to head to Gods Love We Deliver. We were all waiting in the lounge, nervous and excited, to be paired with a specific driver. After being chosen, we headed into the boroughs of the city, each in a different direction, to personally deliver the food that we packaged. Through this we got to experience the whole beginning to end process of what GLWD does. New York is very different in each borough, so we all got to experience a change from what we had seen the past few days. Many of the deliveries were in apartment complexes, duplexes, and a few houses. Once done with the deliveries, each of us got back on our own time and waited for the rest of the group to hear of everyone's individual unique experiences.

After finishing volunteering for the day, we walked a couple of blocks as we headed to the Staten Island Ferry. We got to see Wall Street and awesome buildings. It was perfect timing when we got on the ferry because the sun was beginning to set, and we got a great view. We passed the Statue of Liberty and got great pictures. On the return to the city, all of the buildings were lit up and were reflecting on the river. We finished the night by walking across the Brooklyn Bridge. The view, as everywhere else, was nothing short of amazing.

On Wednesday, we were back in the kitchen at 9am. We were boxing meals and doing a whole lot of whammying. Kurt, the morning shift chef, is very nice and relaxed. KJ, the chef we work with after lunch, is just the same. When we finished for the day, we rushed back to the church to change into nice outfits and clean ourselves up. Within 45 minutes we were on the subway headed to dinner. We ate at a delicious Thai restaurant called Bangkok House. We then went to a broadway show called Kinky Boots, which kept us all at the ends of our seats!

Now we are going the sleep, over and out
