Kissimmee- Children/Health

Maybe there's something in the water, but this place is different from any I have ever experienced before. Everywhere you look, you will see the same passion burning in everyone's eyes. Love is in the air, the water, the volunteers, the trees, and flows in and out of this place. It truly is magical.
Today I finally got to have some one on one face time with the kids at the carousel. This particular carousel was designed to look like a giant red and white spotted mushroom cap, with ever change mood lighting that illuminated the whimsical animals underneath. I truly feel that I can't summarize all of the amazing encounters I had today, but one experience stood out in my mind. Two parents and four kids came in and took their respective places one various animals. Mom sat close to two of the daughters and their son, and dad sat down a little ways away from them in a turtle shaped bench seat on the carousel. As I started the ride, I smiled as the family traveled round and round, enjoying this moment together. But as I looked at the father with his daughter in his arms, I could hardly help myself from sobbing. The dads eyes were transfixed on his daughter, and she looked back with the most loving gaze. I could see the love that these two were sharing and for at least this moment, nothing else mattered. The child's medical condition didn't matter, the bills didn't matter. They were in a place where they could forget about all these meaningless things and just love each other. This is what Give Kids the World is here to do. It gives them a sanctuary, and if only for one week, a chance to escape the harsh realities of the real world. I cannot wait to see what happens the rest of this week!
