"If you're singing to cabbage, you need to step outside."
We started off our morning at LowCountry Food Bank. One group of us spent the early part of the day peeling cabbage and removing the rotting parts to make the cabbage edible for families. The other group of participants boxed up cookies and crackers. It was powerful to see members of the community coming in to buy food at the Food Bank store because it showed us the impact we were making on the community.
We spent the afternoon at WINGS. We all had a good time getting to play with the children and were happy to see how much they opened up to us. It was great for all of us to experience how the kids were able to communicate love to us and how we could communicate love to them, even through simple gestures such as a smile.
Our experience in South Carolina has been wonderful so far and we are excited to experience the rest of the week here!
Here's a collage photo of our experience at the Food Bank!
