Lexington - Post One
Today was our first day in Lexington. We arrived last night and checked out the cabins of Blue Grass Christian Camp, our home for the next week. We were pleasantly surprised as to how nice our accommodations were including a retreat center with a full kitchen, a piano, and a gymnasium full of fun games. This Sunday was our day off for the week so we slept in and woke up to the boys making everyone breakfast. We walked around the camp to find a frisbee golf course, paddle boats, and the best campfire spot overlooking the lake where we plan on having our bonfire later on in the week! Then we were off to Beresa, KY a small, college town where instead of students paying tuition, they create works of art which are sold in shops throughout the town. Many of us got Christmas presents (so relatives and friends get excited!) We also went hiking in the Indian Fort Trails which lead to a beautiful lookout of the Kentucky hills. During the hike we met up with the ranger's dog, Tilly, who we were tempted to bring back home with us because she's darn cute. After that we had a home-cooked Mexican feast and now we're about to start a scary movie to wrap up our night off then hitting the hay until tomorrow morning where we start our first night of volunteering with Habitat for Humanity!
