They say good things come to those who wait. Or in small packages. Cars are small. And the wait for our trip has been a long one. We'll see how all of this works out. We left Columbia bright and early at 6:30 this morning. We stopped in beautiful Wildwood just outside of St. Louis for a lovely breakfast furnished by the accommodating Mullineaux family (we love them!) with special guests (Trevor's parents and Leah's mom). After eating our fill of delicious bagels and breakfast casserole, we braved 55 once again. Our travels brought us to Memphis, the capital of strangely talented men doing acrobatics in the middle of the street. We were very impressed. We also enjoyed a hearty lunch at the Flying Saucer, where we also met up Kiara's parents by surprise!
After a bit of sightseeing, we continued on. Just... 4 hours left? 3? 8? After what seemed like a century, we became tired of hearing "Call Me Maybe" by Carly Rae Jepsen (did you know she's 26?) so we decided to switch to... no, just kidding, we listened to it again. Also many people colloquially referred to the very back seat as the "dungeon" as it was pretty isolated from conversation and was also rather uncomfortable. However Leah quite enjoyed the dungeon and spent most of her time there. Also coming out of the dungeon? "Selfies" and "cookies". We can't really elaborate on that because we don't know much more. Our trip also had a bonding experience on the side of the road, which was completely different than some other characters we saw on the side of that same said road.
There were also reports that Lil Wayne was at the gas station we visited, but that cannot be confirmed, and it's probably not true. Once we got here and checked into our amazing home for the week, Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, we sought out some groceries and dinner (late dinner - like almost midnight!) Did we find groceries? No. Did we find food? ...yes, about five million restaurants later. But it was so good. This trip is gonna be awesome.
Much love,
ASB NO 1
