Cincinnati-Homelessness

Today we went to Grace Place. This is a transitional house for women and children that are homeless. While there, people did a variety of activities to help assist the house. When we arrived, Joyce (the founder of Grace Place) had a list for us to do. Charles and Theresa took care of cockroach issues and made beds. Jaime and Erica organized a bookshelf so that the guests of Grace Place could access age appropriate books. Brittni also sorted puzzles. Abbie, Kristin, and Zach raked leaves and did other lawn maintenance. Nida and Paige painted the kitchen table and stools. Julie and Noel organized an entire pantry.

After all of this, we took a lunch break. We then organized the garage and cleaned it. We also played Pokemon with a boy that lived in the house. At the end, Joyce did a cheer to applaud our efforts. After this, we went to Terry's Turf Club. It was featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. All of us enjoyed burgers, fries, and good company. We then went to Newport on the Levee and took pictures for the ASB scavenger hunt. We saw someone wearing a Mizzou hoodie and we were excited to see one of our own until we realized he didn't go to Mizzou. Paige had an encounter with a Mizzou mom who was very proud her son graduated from there. Jaime was very excited to find a bunny puppet. Our trip has bonded really well and we are looking forward to volunteering tomorrow!
