Memphis 1-Disabilities

Greetings from Memphis!

We started off our trip with a visit from the Fisherville Fire Department! Don't worry mom and dad, it's only happened one other time after that and the cause was a steamy shower and a sensitive fire alarm. The next day was our free day. In the morning, the congregation of the church we are staying at this week welcomed us. We then headed to the infamous Peabody hotel to watch the ducks waddle from their penthouse to the fountain in the lobby. We then spent the next few hours tracking down artsy murals, strolling down Beale Street, and eating BOMB fried chicken from Gus's. We finished off our free day by watching the Memphis Grizzlies take home the win (but secretly hoping their part owner Justin Timberlake would be in attendance).

Our mornings begin at SRVS, an inclusive preschool for kids with all abilities. So far it has been an amazing experience working with the kids and being able to learn so much from them and their teachers. At SRVS we spend our time playing with the kids and assisting the teachers with anything they need. After a morning at SRVS we take a quick break and then head over to St. Jude's Target House. On Monday we first met families that stay at Target House while helping out with a January birthday dinner. We made crafts with the kids and helped serve pizza and cake. Today at Target House we hosted karaoke night for the kids. We sang our hearts out to Taylor Swift and Katy Perry and danced the Juju until we could not Juju no more.

Overall, this trip has been a great experience for all of our participants! We are very excited to continue to serve at SRVS and Target House.

Peace, Love, MAB,

Memphis 1 <3

P.S. Our Target is to SRV(S)
