Taos, NM - Habitat for Humanity

We woke up around 9:00 and took an adventure to WalMart (for TP). McDonald’s was our next stop where we met a very nice elderly worker who informed us that Taos had received 18 inches of snow on Tuesday! We were very excited to reach our next destination, which was the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge.

The first thing we saw when we stepped out of the car was a wild ram! We explored the bridge and the nature below and attempted many jumping pictures, only one of which came out decent.

The coolest part of the bridge was the strip of local vendors selling their handmade goods. Many of them rely on this form of income and provide a lot of knowledgeable information about Taos and its culture.

We then drove just a few miles down the road to see some of the most unique eco-friendly housing,
 Earthships.

We took a short tour of the sample home they had on site, which provided us with a basic understanding of the lifestyle involved. Words cannot describe the architectural beauty and dedication that goes into these homes.

Just 40 minutes outside of Taos, we took the risk of off-roading in minivans… but it was worth the risk. We arrived at Tres Piedras and hiked about 10 minutes up the rocks for a once in a lifetime experience.

After a very busy day, we finally settled down at Guadalajara Grill for some authentic Mexican food that left us all in a food coma.

We decided to take a stroll through the plaza and explore all the local shops. One shop in particular, La Tierra Mineral Gallery, caught the eyes of many with items ranging from $5-$20,000+.

After much planning, and losing the grocery list, we arrived at WalMart yet again. Dinner was everyone's favorite of Mac n Cheese and Hotdogs and we ended the night playing many different card games together.

After a full day in Taos, we have grown as a group and look forward to what the rest of the week has in store.
