Hello friends.
Greetings from Telluride, a shockingly beautiful town in the middle of the mountains. We're a solid 8,742 feet higher than Columbia and we've definitely been feeling the effects of the altitude. Our lotions are exploding. We're following the high altitude instructions when we bake cookies. Things are weird.
Our first few days here have been heavy on disability awareness and training with the Telluride Adaptive Sports Program. We spent Sunday learning about some of the common disabilities TASP sees and TASP's focus on enabling its students to be independent. On Monday, we hit the slopes with the incredible Tim and Janis, two TASP full-timers who taught us the ins and outs of adaptive skiing equipment and teaching. Tomorrow, we'll put our practice to the test in lessons with kids. We met some of the kids (everyone calls them kiddos here) we'll be working with today, and they promise to be an exciting, hilarious bunch.
Service has been great so far, but we've also loved exploring the town. Telluride is tiny, but in a good way. We take a gondola to our service site and are staying at an awesome church just a few blocks away from the town's main drag. We'll leave you with this picture of participant Creighton that more or less sums up this trip so far.
Peace, love and MAB. Remember that Dawn dish soap is not for dishwashers.
