Savannah 2 - Children (1)

GREETINGS FROM SAV!! <3

After two full days of driving on Friday and Saturday, and an eventful, rainy day downtown on Sunday, today was our first day serving at Memorial University Medical Center here in Savannah, GA.  We have enjoyed the great tastes, sights, and sounds of Savannah the past couple days, but it was nice to begin volunteering at the Children’s Hospital.  We have been split up into various groups.  First was the rockstars in Day Surgery, Andrea and Rachelle who played with kids, helping them relax have fun before surgery, while giving their parents a muc- needed break.  Next was the Outpatient group, where Site Leader Rikki colored some mean pictures with the kids, and the whole group, Kirsten, Faith, Victoria, and Chloe, enjoyed playing with the toys with the kids.  Lastly was the inpatient group—Koty, Lauren, Luke, Anna, and FrankieJo, who sorted out donations and prepared many arts and crafts kits for the kids.  Overall, today was a slow, relaxed day at the hospital.  We unwound with a large family dinner of spaghetti and salad, and topped it off the world-famous Leopold’s Ice Cream—opened in 1919.  (Facts courtesy of Anna Koester).  And the T-Swift and Whitney Houston jam sesh on the way home was spot on as well.  All in all, today was a great day despite some challenges, and we look forward to the rest of the week!
