Let It Snow!

We are officially half way through our time at the BOEC.  This morning we woke up to 5 inches of fresh powder and a snowfall that didn’t stop until later in the afternoon. Needless to say snow conditions were perfect. Day three was full of fresh snow and was different than our first two days of service. It was the last day at the BOEC for the Children’s Nationwide group which was full of good-byes to students many of us have been working with this week. While it was sad to see this group leave it warmed our hearts to see the students ‘leave it all on the mountain’. Throughout the week we have seen these students grow and develop their skiing abilities and in their relationships with others.  In the morning Lauren worked with a four-track student from Children’s Nationwide who is a cancer survivor and amputee.  Her student was determined to have a great last day on the slopes and that is exactly what they did!

In the afternoon many participants had the opportunity to go out with instructors from the BOEC and get a mini ski ‘lesson’. It was great having free time to explore more of the mountain and spend time together as a group.
After our day on the mountain the group walked downtown Breckenridge and had a blast shopping and trying on some pretty cool hats.
We also stopped at Crepes A La Cart for some delicious crepes as a pre dinner snack. After stocking up on souvenirs a few members of the group treated us to a delicious brinner (breakfast for dinner) followed by some games of intense heads up and an interesting dance session (mainly by our site leader, Briant). As we rest up for our last two days of service we have made sure to keep in mind that on our trip “this is it” and to fully live in the moment and put all that we can into our service at BOEC.

Peace, Love, Breck,
Lauren and Briant
