On Thursday our group was able to focus on completing several labor-intensive tasks for Love In Action as the pantry was unable to serve today. While the facility waited for the food truck's arrival, they showed us the many different things they had been hoping to get done. For some of the tasks, they had been waiting as long as 2012 to have the time to complete them! It was an amazing realization that Love In Action puts a tireless focus on each and every client that walks through the door, and often forgets about the small to-do's around the facility.
Part of our group spent the day finishing up painting shelves of the thrift store, stenciling labels so clothing and other items are easier to find, and organizing the pantry by placing signs on each refrigerator and freezer for easier access to items. Others utilized their power tool knowledge and strength to build supports for the shelving units that held canned goods. A final group stayed upstairs in a room used as back stock for the thrift store, sorting through boxes that were stacked to the ceiling and working to make the room manageable.
Following our service, we went as a group to a wonderful restaurant in the French Quarter and are looking forward to our final day of service!
