Wednesday- 14 January 2014
Today started off with an early morning, with about 394 cups of coffee (we are so serious). Although we were a little sleepy, we were all thrilled to be headed back to another day at Le Bonheur to see our wonderful friends.
As our relationships with the patients we have met are growing, the relationships with each other grow synonymously. We are all able to swap stories about certain patients that are well-known by us 12. Stories of formula soaked shirts, funny conversations, and emotional experiences are helping to bond us as a group for sure. We are falling more and more in love with this magical place- idk if anyone is really planning on leaving TBH.
The second half of our day was spent making cookies at the FedEx Family House (which is a free housing option for families with kiddos at Le Bonheur). It was the most beautiful place. We absolutely loved spending the afternoon baking and touring the facility- learning the great work the staff there does to ensure these families are fully cared for. The time invested into guests there was incredible and we were so fortunate to have been even a small part of that service.
We cannot believe that we only have two more days left at Le Bonheur. It's Wednesday, we are tired, and more so just lacking the energy we had at the beginning of the week. But whenever we are there with the kiddos, suddenly all of that seems so trivial. I don't know about you- but I call that the joy of serving others.
As our day winded down we went to watch the movie "Selma"- since we were all dying to see it after visiting the National Civil Rights Museum. FIVE STARS. GO SEE IT.
Thanks for reading!
