Charleston--Children

Woke up bright and early Saturday morning to start our journey to Charleston, South Carolina. After 11 hours on the road we arrived safely in Atlanta for a quick snooze at one of the participant's house before starting again the next morning. When we arrived in Charleston today, we headed straight downtown to begin our fun filled free day. After some fireeee FireHouse Subs, we took a stroll down King street. We've never seen so many cute dogs and handsome people in our lives! There was interesting things happening in every direction we looked, such as swing dancing and little bands. Then we hit up Market Street which was a bunch of vendors who were selling a great variety of things such as jewelry and tshirts (which a lot of us bought).
We thought our day couldn't get any better until we got to the carriage ride and let us tell you, our tour guild was a hunk ;). The ride was full of hilarious stories and insight about the wonderful historical Charleston. We saw many BEAUTIFUL houses and the back stories to them including one where scenes from The Notebook were filmed. At one particular location, Carmen and Shannon teared up a bit at an old wedding story (cry babies). When the ride came to an end, we all wished it would have gone on longer but we had more things to see.
Our next stop was the Atlantic Ocean and the beach. Unfortunately when we got there, it was already dark but we were still able to take in the ocean air. After that we headed to see our beautiful home which we are lucky enough to stay in for the week (blessed #surfbort). We're all so excited to see what the week has in store for us and are ready to start volunteering tomorrow!
Bye friends. See you tomorrow!
