Blog #4: ASBers love leaves
Last night, the gym that has become our home, transformed from a tranquil world of knock out, pillow talk, and heart to hearts, to a land of fear. We learned to trust no one as we began our lives of crime playing mafia. From a gator attack, to a pneumothorax, we had multiple close calls, and some were even saved. We are looking forward to another rousing game tonight, but we will all be sleeping with one eye open.
We woke up and again found ourselves in the tundra formerly known as Tampa, Florida. We headed for our final day at Big Cat Rescue. Our day started with a full tour of the property and the cats that we have so been looking forward to it. Our tour was surprisingly informative not just of each of the cats as a species, but the cats individually. Their personal stories, and how they came to be at big cat rescue. It gave us a new perspective into our work here and helped us to realize the nature of these cats that we're helping and the back story of this place. We have become familiar and attached here. After another afternoon of hard work, we pulled away and waved goodbye to our new friends (both human and feline).
From there, we headed off on another adventure. Clearwater beach here we come!!! As a special treat for our last full day of work, we got lunchables and embraced our childhood. At the beach, we tanned in our sweatpants and sweatshirts though a few brave souls did venture out into the freezing ocean water. There might have been some ice chips floating in the water, but who could say for sure. One of those brave souls, was Sierra who was experiencing the ocean for the first time in her 20 years.
We enjoyed a Mexican meal for supper and all ate way more than we needed. Our wonderful hosts at Mary Help of Christians even gave us cake and milk to chase down our amazing meal. Now, it's time for more temporary tattoos. This is what the cool kids do. See you tomorrow.
