Yesterday, we had so much fun we didn't have time to blog when we got home because everyone passed out. So for a recap of the day, we volunteered at the same after school program we did on Tuesday. The kids were thrilled to see us come back! As we walked in, one girl said, "This is the best day ever!" Little phrases like that made our heart melt. This program was so great to work with. We really enjoyed working with the kids, and the kids didn't want us to leave. That being said, the staff at both Emerald Bay and Champion didn't want us to leave either. Here are words we received in an email from each site:
Champion: "I just wanted to thank you again for you guys coming out and helping again!!! Its really been a blessing; sorry your last day with us was kind of chaotic."
Emerald Bay: "thank you thank you thank you for sending your team to volunteer at Emerald Bay. I missed you guys on Tuesday but had the privilege of working with everyone today. I wish you guys were in Houston because I would call on you'll every day J. On behalf of Rainbow Housing I just want to say we love you guys to pieces J, the kids really enjoyed your group. I wish you guys the best and much success in your future endeavors."
It was truly a blessing to be able to work with both of these communities and assist the kids. If only we could take them with us!
After volunteering, our group decided to go to Hard Rock Café downtown Houston. The food was delicious! There was a live band that played, so we definitely went on a good night. It was a great experience especially for those who have never been to a Hard Rock Café before. Today will conclude our last day of service and our journey back to Columbia. It has been such a great time forming friendships with our group and we can only hope they will get stronger as the year goes on! Stay tuned for our last blog later this afternoon/tonight!
