Ft. Collins - Environment

Road trips are incredible but I never thought a 10 hour trip would've taken twice the amount of time plus a night in Amarillo, TX. The funny thing is, I've already had more fun than I ever thought. Due to the unwanted spring break snow storm we had to completely miss Kansas (har har we didn't go through Kansas). However, being on the road with eleven other college students is incredibly entertaining. I'm surprised how fast our group is clicking. I've noticed that there hasn't been one person left out of a joke or conversation. I think that is one theme we will hold onto for the rest of the week. The unspoken truth is the realization that including every one and being selfless is very important. Without having even done service yet I can already tell that this is going to be one of the best weeks of my life.

I'm going to quickly recap how awesome the last 42 hours have been:

Where's Sam? As a group we all went and woke up Sam at his dorm because he had not waken up yet. So that was neat.

Side note: I really like how chill and laid back every one is.

The red van is the best van (as opposed to the black van). Also, the black van is super hi-tech but who cares?

We ate at a Denny's in Joplin, MO. Carol was a great waitress. She was old and precious, like a porcelain doll at every gas station. Wait, no those dolls were really creepy. Seriously, really creepy.

Tanner thought it would be a fantastic idea to drive all the way to OKC on an empty fuel tank. We made it but it was ridiculous. While waiting out in the parking lot a man drove by us and asked, "does anybody know where broadway is?" Of course, our reaction is that we are not from around here. About five minutes rolls by and this old fella comes trucking around again. "Thanks again guys. *points at group of ASBbaldeagle girls and says* You're beautiful girl." No problem, sir...WAIT, WHAT?! Yeah, that happened.

Jerry's is not a place to eat at if you're ever passing through Amarillo, TX. I mean, feel free but Sosa says, "Jerry's ain't for Sosa".

Will Rodgers has planted himself through Oklahoma and Texas so go ahead and name your first born after him.

Chuck Testa is a taxidermist and our hero.

Colorado has been nothing but a blessing to us. Everyone I have ran into has manners and you can't even tell if they are being nice or mean it is just in their blood to be mindful of others. (Referring to people in TX, New Mexico and CO). New Mexico is amazing by the way.

Dan from the church and his wife Kelly were very grateful and nice to us. Maelly (our contact) is also extremely cool. All three of them were very happy for us and just happy to see us.

After months and months of planning by our (more than incredible) site leaders Tanner and Lauren it's rewarding to see their hard work pay off by finagling meeting the people who made this all happen.

Cheers to a life changing week. We all get to wear snow shoes and hike in the mountains tomorrow with Maelly. Super stoked.

Sosa for life
