Murphy - Environment

Another hurried morning at the lake house to get to our next thorn-digging extravaganza! We met Tony in Brasstown, home of the New Year's Eve "Possum Drop". The Possum Drop, like the New York ball drop, attracts everyone from the tri-county area! After learning about this interesting piece of NC news, we followed Tony to our site. It was a really beautiful valley along a small babbling creek surrounded by extremely thorny invasive multi-flora rose n' cows. This stuff is mean. We worked until noon until we received a delicious pizza lunch from a retired journalist for the Atlanta journal! Coming from Mizzou and all, our community journalism majors had some pretty great J-conversations with him.

After lunch we worked for a few hours longer, making sure to take "puppy breaks" with a precious dog, named "Beautiful Face, aka 'Buddy' (like our Buddy, obviously, minus the halitosis)". Around four we retired back to the lake house for swimming, sunning and a little bit of rest before a hurried yet delicious pasta dinner before the Contra dance.

The Contra dance was AWESOME! If you are wondering, it's basically like a square dance but bigger. The old men were so good at swinging their partners round-and-round! We did a number of dances and now we are basically pros. That's all for now! Off to get a good night sleep before more plant removal tomorrow!
