Chicago-Women's Issues Trip

Today we began our Chicago adventure. We were split up into two vans and spent 7 hours bonding and getting to know each other on the way to our temporary home at the Urban Art Retreat. We started off a little late, but stopped for lunch at a charming (kitschy) place called the Lighthouse Inn at the Missouri-Illinois border. There was a sampling of the buffalo fish, which we determined to be a native delicacy? We assured the waitress we might or might not be returning on our way back…

We spent part of the trip trying to think off all of the songs we know about Chicago and the rest of the time asking each other both serious and superfluous questions. Some naps were to be had (and maybe some drool, too) and Carlos had an epic awakening when he thought he missed dinner. Some of us jammed out to the White Stripes and Adele, while the other half sang along to S Club 7…..They're coming back, y'all.

We grabbed some dinner just outside of town at a class station (classy gas station, coined by Theo). As we rolled out, Stephanie was unamused with Sean's countdown to blastoff. We arrived at the UAR and took a little tour around the gallery and 2nd floor. We are going to get really cozy, but we are excited by the names of the rooms (look forward to a post about our adventures in the Frida Kahlo kitchen ["It's surreal!"]).

With love from our cozy (read: cramped) quarters,

Chicago
