Today was our first day on site, and it was awesome! We're working with Beaches Habitat for Humanity in Atlantic Beach, Fla. They're the nicest people to work with. Also, we were told that our site had some of the best skilled workers, such as carpenters and buliders, in the biz. This was proven to be true once we were split up into our sites. Allen and Jake, our crew leaders, were so skilled in working with homes. Jake was so nice as he explained the intricacies of wall building. Our other group painted a house for Marsha and Tony, who were thankful for their help.
Besides working, we've enjoyed the beautiful weather. Mary-Ann, beaches director, said this week was going to be a "Perfect 10," as far as weather goes.
Tomorrow we'll be working with other volunteers at the other 5 sites. We don't exactly know where we'll be working, but we're super stoked!
